Hello Everyone,

Welcome back! I hope you have all enjoyed a lovely summer break and managed to enjoy the good weather we have had.

What a wonderful year we had last year, with so many fantastic achievements including the Leading Parent Partnership Award and the Online Safety Mark.

We ended the year with a wonderful sports week and sports day – a huge thank you to Mr Murphy and Miss Melling who took the lead in organising a fantastic week of fun, games and exciting new activities.

Miss Melling and Miss Della Fera, were awarded Specialist Practitioner in Education (SPE) Status by the East Lancashire Inclusion Partnership, a fabulous external recognition of their enhanced, knowledge, skills and experience in the areas of Autism, Sensory Regulation and Behaviour and Nurture for Learning.

We also bid farewell to five members of staff, Miss Blamire, Mrs Clegg, Mr Lamph and Mrs Robinson who have all moved on to pastures new.

Staff Leavers - July 2018

Miss Chadwick got married during the summer and is now known as Mrs Fisher.

Mrs Clarke has gone on maternity leave and is excepting her new bundle of joy later this month.

It has been a very busy time at school over the summer holidays with lots of new and exciting developments.

Firstly, we have our new car park, this has been something that we have needed for several years and will mean that the arrival and departure at the beginning and end of the day will be much better for pupils, parents, visitors and staff and will hopefully ease congestion and be better for our neighbours on Harrington Road too. It will also mean that we can offer some onsite parking when you are attending meetings and our special events.

Secondly our reception area, school office and my office have been redesigned and re-located – providing a much fresher and brighter space that we are sure will ensure parents and other visitors to the school will find even more welcoming and comfortable.

Thirdly the Gnome Dome/B4l Hub building has been demolished to make way for a new building, the plan is to replace the previous building with a two-classroom demountable unit providing much need space. The Gnome Dome/B4L hub had most definitely reached the end of its shelf life and we are all excited about the new classrooms, which should be in place later this term.

We have welcomed 18 new primary and 5 new secondary pupils to school this year, I am so pleased and proud to say that they all seem to have settled in remarkably well. It has been great to see all the children and hear all about their adventures this summer, they have all grown so much since July.

We have also welcomed several new staff, Mr John Wright, new Site Supervisor, Rachael Cross new class teacher, and Katie Goonan, Julie Banks, Alan, Annalisa Zarabian, Mandy Scambler,  Jade Smith, Zoe Carney all new teaching assistants.

Please ensure we have your correct mobile number and email and you have downloaded the “Xpressions App”, as we use these to share information with you. Click on the following link to find out more. Please also ensure you check out Parent View on Evidence for Leaning to access the weekly update of learning activities your child has taken part in, please feel free to add your comments. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Please see your child’s class teacher if you need further info. Please keep a look out on the website and like us on Facebook for information and details regarding upcoming events. The annual Calendar of Events will be out by the end of this week, please add these dates to your diaries.

I’ll look forward to seeing you in school soon,

Mr Welsh
