This Half-Term in Willow Class our topic is Let it Shine .
In English we have looked at the story Sparks in the Sky to focus around bonfire night and what to expect at a bonfire night. The pupils have been reading the story and writing about their experiences of Bonfire night over the weekend and on Monday. Over the rest of the half term we have a few stories about Stars to focus on and throughout December we will be focusing on the story of the Snow Queen.
In Maths we are continuing to focus on using Numicon to support our number learning. We are also focusing on measurement such as Time, Capacity and Volume and Money. We will also exploring fractions.
In our topic work we will be focusing around our topic of let it shine looking into key aspects of this time of year such as bonfire night and Guy Fawkes. We will also look into the history of Christmas and the reasons behind some of the traditions that many of us follow. In science we are focusing properties of different materials, what items are made from and how useful they are if they are made from something different.
We will be practicing some French this half term, in addition to gymnastics in P.E, swimming each week on a Thursday and we will be continuing our Monday visits into th community.
We will be beginning to practice for the Christmas production over the next few weeks so expecting lots of singing and dancing!
