I have been part of the Astley Park community since 1996, prior to my son joining school from 1998 to 2003.

I take my role as Governor extremely seriously and I am currently on two committees.  I chair the Policy and Curriculum committee and I am also on the Premises, Health & Safety committee.  Both committees meet termly, as well as attending an Informal Committee meeting and Formal Committee meeting.

The Policy Committee is responsible for approving all school policies, educational visits and agreeing term dates.

The Health & Safety Committee is responsible for Child Protection and Safeguarding, School Improvements, Online Safety, Pupil Attendance, Pupil Behaviour, Pupil / Staff Accidents, Well-Being in school as well as attending Internal and External walkrounds with the site supervisor and school business manager.

I am the Governor Strand Lead for Personal Development Behaviour and Welfare and meet with Miss Della Fera and Mrs Patterson termly to produce a strand lead PDBW report to share at the Informal Governors meetings.

I am also the Equality Nominated Governor and meet with Miss Miller to produce the Equality Nominated Governor report which is also shared at the Informal Governors meetings.

Although I work shifts I do try to attend as many school events and training as I can.  I have attended Health & Safety Training, Child Protection Training, Effective Challenge & Support Training,  and Equality Training.

I was warmly welcomed into class 8G last week to join in their 'World Religion Week' activities.  The class had been introduced to the Story of Buddha earlier in the week so it was lovely to watch the pupils practice drawing Buddha before creating some amazing canvas paintings.

I hope that this gives you a little insight of what my role as Governor at Astley Park involves, as well as actively supporting the pupils in an out of classroom activities; and supporting the staff team.
