'We will be celebrating Pioneer Day at Astley Park School on the 16th of July! It is an annual holiday for Mormons and the people of Utah which celebrates the arrival of Brigham Young and the first group of Church of Latter Day Saints Pioneers in the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. This was their trek across thousands of miles where they could find somewhere to settle and practice their faith freely. This event celebrates not only the destination of finding a safe place and a community but also honours the resilient spirit of all diverse groups and native communities who helped shape the region.

As a school, we will be celebrating this with a focus on teamwork, resilience, and collaboration. We will be engaging in some teamworking tasks and challenges to commemorate the cooperation that the Pioneers needed. Look out for our Equality blogs to see what the classes have been up to!'
