What a wonderful video call again this afternoon. I hope you enjoyed the Playdoh Gym and our extra special guest- Mr Welsh! I loved hearing all of you singing along to Let it Go too and Mr Welsh has emailed me to tell me how much he enjoyed seeing you all. A massive well done to Harrison too for being our Star of the Week- he has had 2 fantastic days in school this week and has tried really hard with the Six Star Challenge too.
It has been a very busy week for me as I have actually been able to go into school for 2 days, plus I have been catching up with all your parent’s for our end of year parent’s evenings. You should all know by now that when you move to 9G in September your class team will be Miss Hendy, Mrs England and Miss McPartlin. Miss Hendy will be in touch with your parents to arrange a “Meet and Greet” session (like we would have done if we were all still in school) for next week.
Let’s have a look at what you’ve all been up to:
Ben missed our video call today as he was at an appointment- We missed you Ben, hope your appointment went well! Ben has been enjoying the new Playdoh Gym videos on the YouTube channel and has also been practicing his typing. Mum said he answered the questions about our new story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and then typed them up too! Super work, Ben!
Charlie has been very busy completing the Six Star Challenge again this week (isn’t it amazing how motivated a certificate can make someone!). He has been practicing singing his favourite songs from the Wizard of Oz and Frozen, as well as having a go at a Joe Wicks workout. He’s also been baking Mrs Mahood’s cookies and helped to wash the pots and put them away for the How Can I Help Challenge. Charlie has enjoyed playing on Education City and Purple Mash on his new laptop and he’s also been making his own nature picture using leaves from the garden. Wonderful work, Charlie!
Daisy has been very busy too this week. She has also been having a go at the Six Star Challenge, how amazing is Daisy’s picture for the Let’s Wonder Challenge?! Mum and Daisy have been learning the Oompa Loompa dance (from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and even made some peppermint oobleck this week, which Daisy really enjoyed playing with. Daisy has been working hard with her Numicon work and is enjoying using the Colourful Semantics to build sentences about the pictures from The Gruffalo story. Mum and Daisy have been in the kitchen lots this week- making Mrs Mahood’s cookies (Daisy’s brother wanted ginger flavour and Daisy chose Smarties) and then making chilli for tea too. What a brilliant week, Daisy!
Francesca continues to work on her writing at home. She is enjoying reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story and has been answering questions about what she has read. Francesca is still enjoying completing jigsaws at home, as well as lots of reading and some adding and subtracting using the Numicon. She’s been playing on Education City and Purple Mash again, and Francesca has been really lucky as her big brother George has been helping her with her school work this week while Mum has been back in work for a few days. Well done, Francesca!
Jake has been keeping busy at home too. He has been enjoying reading the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story with Mum and has started answering the questions about the story and talking about the different characters in the story too. Mum also says that Jake went off on his own and decided to write his full name completely independently!! Amazing work, Jake!
Rose has had a brilliant week as it’s been her birthday! She’s also enjoying the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory story and has been overwriting some of the key words from the story. Mum says she’s enjoyed making her Oompa Loompa picture on Purple Mash and has made a some lollipop artwork too. Rose has had a go at some of the Six Star Challenges- helping to put the pots away, beautifully decorating a pebble and making a picture using things she has found from the garden. She’s also been working hard on her Numicon work too. Super work, Rose!
In school with me, Mrs England and Miss Aindow this week has been Harrison, Skye and Nicola. I don’t know about the pupils, but I have had the loveliest time being in school and spending time with them and Mrs England and Miss Aindow. Me and Harrison have spent some time in the Sensory Room, the three of us made some cookies (following Mrs Mahood’s recipe from her YouTube video) and we’ve also had a go at some of the Six Star Challenges too! We decided to pinch 8R’s idea (thanks 8R!) for our Let’s Wonder challenge, so Harrison and the girls collected lots of natural items from around the school grounds and brought them back into class. Then they took a selfie of themselves and Mrs England printed them off, then they decided how they wanted to customise their selfies. Don’t they look great! We also did a Joe Wicks workout for Let’s Move Our Bodies, and have all enjoyed learning the words to Let it Go and our video call for the Be Creative challenge.
We’ve had a record number of Six Star Challenge certificates given out this week! Daisy won her Gold certificate for a third week running! Harrison, Nicola, Skye and Charlie won their Silver certificate and Rose, Francesca and Jake won their Bronze Certificate! Well done team 8G!
In case you missed it, here is the video that Mrs McDonnell made to celebrate everyone’s achievements during Sports Week last week: https://youtu.be/eWM0aUgEbbw
If your child took part and you posted on Evidence for Learning about it, Mr Murphy has left a photo collage and a little message on there for you to watch too.
Before I sign off I just wanted to throw an idea out there and see what you all think. I am thinking about doing a proper “morning group” session with everyone from 8G on a video call (like on a Friday) so that we can all join in with the pupils who are in school. This would take place on Wednesday morning at about 9.45am and should only be for 15 minutes. If you think this is something your child might like to take part in, please let me know and I will arrange it.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, 2 more weeks to go!
Mrs Fisher, Mrs Down, Mrs England and Miss Aindow
