10P have had a very busy start the thier last term before summer!
On Monday we went for our first visit to the Anderton Centre, where we are going for the next few weeks. In the morning we went canoeing, working in small teams to man the canoes. We rowed out onto the Anglezarke Reservoir and after everyone started to feel comfortable, we played some games on the water where we had to collect various balls as quick as possible to earn points. In the afternoon we did a few different activities. First we all had a go at tree-climbing, and even though some of us were scared, everyone had a go and did brilliantly. After this we went to do some bushcraft where we had girls versus boys to build a shelter and both of them were fab! We then went over to the firepit where we all got to roast some marshmallows.
On Tuesday we had our last trip to the Life Centre at Chorley Hospital where we got to talk about everything we had learned during these sessions and talk about what we enjoyed the most. All of the learners we presented with a certificate recognising that they had completed the program. In the afternoon we worked on our enterprise project, where we all finished off making our posters and some of the learners helped Miss Wilkins make more things to sell at the summer fair.
On Wednesday morning we did some maths, where we are learning about money and how to use coins to create the correct amount and then we continued our creative writing with our class story. In the afternoon it was time for a science lesson that everyone really enjoyed! At the moment we are learning about states of matter and reversible/irreversible changes and this week we got to melt some chocolate to show how it can change from a solid to a liquid and then we all got to taste a bit.
On Thursday Morning we went swimming where everyone is doing brilliantly and lots of us moved up into the deep end! In the afternoon most of went to Chorley in Bloom where we planted some potatoes and did some recycling; everyone really enjoyed it even though they did get a bit wet. Sophia went to the hair salon to do some more work experience where she helped Emily wash up and sweep and dry some peoples hair.
On Friday morning, Sophia went for her final work experience at the salon where she had a great time! In school everyone else did some English, writing their diaries all about Chorley in Bloom. In the afternoon we had golden time and then celebration assembly; a big well done to our Star of the Week Luca for some brilliant work this week, especially at the Anderton Centre and Chorley in Bloom.
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and stays dry!
