This half term in maths we are developing our understanding of capacity. Today was our first lesson where we took part in a carousel of activities.

In the rice tray we filled different sized bottles with varying amounts of rice. We then compared the bottles by shaking them to see if we could identify which of the bottles made a quiet sound and which one was noisy. Some learners made a prediction as to which one would be quiet and which would be noisy before exploring the different bottles.

In the sand tray, we poured cups of sand into the different containers and used the labels to identify which of the containers were big, small, the biggest and the smallest.

Finally, in the water tray, learners poured water into different sized containers to count how many cups it took to fill the different containers to work out which container was the biggest and smallest.
