It’s been a busy couple of weeks in 10P!

Last week on Monday a few of our learners walked into Chorley town centre to do some shopping. On Tuesday in our visit to the Life Centre at Chorley hospital we looked at the X-ray department. A radiographer told us about the different ways they can look at the parts of our body and then took us to look around one of the x-ray rooms in the hospital.

In Science we looked at hot vs cold and how we experience these temperatures in our every day lives.

We did our swimming lesson on Thursday morning and on Thursday afternoon at Chorley in Bloom we welcomed a couple of our parents to watch and take part in our gardening for Share Our Learning. Everyone worked really hard.

This week in our visit to the Life Centre at Chorley hospital on Tuesday we looked at the catering department. The staff showed us round the kitchen, store room, dish washers and explained all about providing meals for patients in the hospital. We each had to wear a white gown and blue hair net while we were looking around which everyone thought looked quite funny!

On Wednesday a couple of our learners represented school in a swimming gala as part of the Lancashire School Games. They came back with big smiles and plenty of medals! Well done!

On Thursday morning we did our usual swimming lesson at Chorley leisure centre and everyone is making great progress. In the afternoon we learned about VE Day and why we celebrate it each year. The pupils looked at how people celebrated after the war and then watched the footage from this year’s commemoration with the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony. We then had a traditional afternoon tea with scones, jam and cream!

On Friday morning for our ASDAN work we learned about what a community is and did some research on local community groups.

On Thursday and Friday this week Lola has also taken part in her second lot of work experience at Embellished By Emily.

Our star of the week this week is Sophia for representing Astley Park School with her super swimming! Well done Sophia!
