Monday started off by completing maths and phonics, followed by reading the Gruffalo story, all taking turns in reading parts of the story. We did some really good play doh gym and all followed the video really well, this helps to get our fingers warmed up ready for work. We looked at different coloured objects and put them in the correct colour circle. We then counted how many of each colour we had, this took lots of great teamwork. We looked at moving our bodies in different ways too.
Tuesday was a great day, the children showed off their knowledge of a first aid kit. We explored plasters, what they look and feel like and then what they are used for. We then looked at a bandage, what it looks and feels like and what it is used for. And finally we looked at an ice pack and how this looks, feels and also what it is used for. Tuesday afternoon we looked at the human body, made up of all different bones. We looked at the different shapes of them bones and where these live in our bodies. We then made our own skeletons using cotton buds, this was tricky but all of the children showed resilience and tried super hard.
Wednesday we had P.E in the morning and used a variety of different apparatus in the hall. Using the skills we have learnt in previous lessons. The children then completed their matching activities before going on to Thrive in the afternoon. During this, the children used great communication skills with the staff and children to complete a range of different games, with different rules and different style games. Using great communication and sharing skills.
Thursday we did some great maths work using numicon shapes to make different numbers. We then looked at the world and what the world is made up of (water, sand, grass, sky, people, animals etc.) Miss Molloy built a scene to explain this and the children remained engaged the whole time. The children gave their ideas of what they thought the earth was made of and what/who lives on the earth. The children then went to their tables and made their very own ‘Earth’ using a gluing and sticking activity. We then did lots of work on time.
Friday was a morning of maths, phonics and learning about body parts. What they look like, and where they are on the body. Before enjoying golden time in the afternoon.
Well done to Jack, our star of the week this week. For having a week full of positive engagement in class!
