Last week chestnut class explored different jobs in careers week.

With our topic this term being all about animals we focused on people that help animals such as vets and farmers.

On Monday, Miss Seddon did an attention autism.

For stage 1 we had different animals in our box these included; a dog that rolled on his tummy and laughed, a very loud quacking duck and a chick that eyes popped!

In stage 2 Miss Seddon placed 3 different farm animals in a tray and placed them where they live. The cow was in the grass, the pig in the mud and the duck in the pond.

For stage 3 we all took it in turns to be a farmer, we all put the farmers hat on and chose a farm animal to sing with.

Finally for stage 4 we went off to do farm animal themed jigsaws at the table.

On Tuesday we continued with our sensory story ‘The Zoo Doctor’. We listened to how the vet made the different animals better during the week and even put our own plasters and bandages on some of the animals to help the vet.

On Wednesday Mrs Whittle did an attention autism.

For stage 1 we had some more different animals in the box including a frog that tongue popped out!

In stage 2 Mrs Whittle put 3 different animals in a tray and then covered them with flour. They were then given medicine before she lifted the animals up to reveal the outline underneath.

For stage 3 we took it in turns to choose a poorly animal to put a plaster on and make it better.

Then in stage 4 we all got a penguin each with a different number on its tummy. We then coloured that amount of fish and fed our penguin.

On Friday we did a career themed Sensology.

See- We watched a bob the builder song and then we dressed up as builders wearing high vis jackets and explored the different tools.

Hear- We explored a toy police car and listened to the noise of the police siren.

Smell- We smelt some flowers from the florist.

Taste- We enjoyed some delicious cakes from the baker.

Touch- We all were given a plaster to put on from the doctor.

After Sensology there were lots of role play areas to explore including doctors and nurses, builders, police and bakers. We had lots of fun!

We also had career themed work tasks and workstation activities.
