On Monday we began our day with maths, 2 of our groups looked at money and did coin recognition. We added money together to make different totals. Our other group looked at coordinates, on grids. Then, we had picture news. This weeks question was “what makes something fun?” We discussed things we find fun and why we find them fun. This weeks news was about Pokémon, and it’s celebrating 30 years since it was first created, we learnt what Pokémon is and when and why it was created. Today Mrs Slattery set up 4 “fun stations” we had a joke station, drawing challenge, paper aeroplane challenge and a dance off. We had a great laugh doing the different fun stations. We had to put the stations in order of “fun-ness” and then explain our reasons why. In the afternoon, we went to Chorley library to return our books. After this we headed to Chorley town hall where we got to meet the Mayor! Firstly, we met the mayor’s assistant, who welcomed us into the cabinet and we all got to sit in there which was exciting. The mayor showed us the gold chain he wears and talked about the different things he does for the community. It was interesting to hear about his role, we got to ask questions and we all got to have an up close view of his chain. Then, we were taken to see the Mayor’s Chamber. At the end of the visit, we were each presented with a certificate, along with a notebook and pen. On Tuesday morning, we continued with maths. One group continued their work on coordinates, whilst the other group continued counting money. This week is neurodiversity week so we did a task which looked at what makes us different. After this we did some 1:1 reading. This afternoon we registered to careers pilot, it’s an online careers information service run by the National Careers Service in England.
On Wednesday, most of our learners visited Newman for a taster day, it was a great day for our learners to experience a day in the life of college. At school, the rest of us went to do gardening with Chorley in bloom and then continued gardening in the sun at school.
On Thursday morning, we went swimming, we started with a warm up, then we went to the end and began to do lengths of front crawl. Then we went on our backs and did lengths of back stroke. In the afternoon, we went to Tesco, to buy all the things breakfast barms
On Friday morning, we made our breakfast barms for staff in school. Then in the afternoon had some well-being time, where we watched a film and played games. This weeks star of the week is Aaron, for being a great Mayor’s assistant, well done Aaron!
