In the morning, we began the day with maths. We worked in our groups and completed our work together. After this, we had PSHE, where we continued our discussions on healthy and unhealthy relationships. We were given scenario cards, we read the cards and discussed “is it okay?”. We discussed these scenarios all together, and came up with ways how to make these situations better. In the afternoon, Mrs Down joined us for a session in coding. We grabbed our iPads and logged onto ScratchJr. We chose a character and began exploring the app.
On Tuesday morning, Julie from keep moat came in and we presented and pitched our housing developments! Julie had to choose a winning development. Julie commented on how great our developments were and mentioned how we all met the briefing and went above and beyond. Due to everyone meeting the briefing and presenting great ideas, everyone won! Julie gave us all goody bags as a prize! Then we went out into Chorley for a chippy lunch! This was great fun, we all enjoyed what we had to seat, and enjoyed sitting and chatting with our friends. When we got back to school, we took part in a game of rounders.
On Wednesday morning, we started the day with picture news. This weeks question was “how can we protect the oceans?” We spoke about rubbish in the sea and why this harms wildlife. This weeks story was about Dutch inventor, Boyan Slat, he created the organisation The Ocean Cleanup, which designs special systems to remove rubbish from oceans and stop more plastic entering rivers and seas. Our task was to create a poster on ocean clean up. In the afternoon we had our KS4 options.
On Thursday we had a visit to Cobble Hay farm. We started with a hike in the morning, where we all had to climb over a fence! We then went back into the barn and farmer Dave made a fire to keep us all warm. We then planted a flower. After this we went and fed the chickens! After this, we ate our lunch. After lunch we got to see more animals, including pigs, cows and goats. This was great fun. We all enjoyed seeing and interacting with the animals.
On Friday we started the day with our year 11 enterprise, making breakfast butties for staff. In the afternoon, we had well being time and then celebration assembly. This weeks star of the week is Gemma, for being brave and overcoming her fear at Cobble Hay farm.
