In forest schools today the learners did their usual litter pick around school and found quite a bit of rubbish. We went back to class and talked about how we would feed the birds in our gardens during the winter, the learners said we could use bird feeders and hang them up in trees in ours gardens. Everyone had a go at making their own bird feeders using a small cup, some wild bird seed, lard and string. 
First they mixed the lard to make it soft and then added the bird seed and mixed well. Next the learners put the mixture into small cups and squashed it down. The learners will take their bird feeders home and hang in trees in their gardens.
