We have kickstarted this term’s Curriculum focus ‘Great British Bake-Off’ with our first Food Technology lesson of the half term. It was great to be back in the Food Tech room and we impressed Miss Townson by remembering that the very first thing we need to do is wash our hands.
Today we made cheese scones. We enjoyed gathering together all the equipment we needed, locating them in the labelled cupboards. We followed the instructions and read the scales as we measured out the ingredients.
We will be working on our ability to follow a recipe, as well as tying in some work all about capacity through measuring using scales and jugs. We will also be working on food technology skills, such as cutting, slicing, mixing, rolling, and shaping. Underpinning this is the idea of maintaining safety throughout, such as washing hands, keeping clean, and taking care around hot and sharp items.
We washed up and put everything away whilst the scones baked in the oven. They smelt delicious!
We let them cool and took them home the following day.
