Welcome back Chestnut class! What a great start to the half term. We have started to explore our new topic ‘sail the seven seas’.

During fine motor, we have explored lots of different pirate themed activities. We’ve created our shark pictures by following a within task schedule (step by step craft) to stick on the shark teeth using a glue stick, and then counted the sharks teeth. We’ve explored a sensory water tray with props like little boats, and completed pirate puzzles, tracing and cut and stick activities in the work station to work on our hand eye coordination and finger-thumb dexterity. Within this, we have used our communication skills to comment and request equipment to complete these activities by using core boards and PECs.

On Tuesday during a Thrive session, we also accessed a pirate themed sensory tray with blue sand, gold coins and funnels. We explored freely, using our hands and a variety of tools and initiated communication in our own way. Each of us shared the resources with our peers and commented on what we were doing, whilst exploring.

We listened to a Sensory Story session where Billy the puppet sailed the seven seas! We all took turns to build and then splat the sandcastle, feel the waves, and catch the sea urchins in the net!

Well done Chestnut class
