This week in Maple class we attended and participated in a sensory story based our the famous and popular character Peppa Pig. The learning intention of the story was all about propositions, mainly focusing on the proposition UNDER. The title of the story was ‘Peppa sails the 7 seas’ and we engaged throughout the story, watching Peppa Pig become a pirate.
We all had a turn wearing a pirate hat, having lots of fun as we could see what all our friends looked like as a pirate! We then watched the big parachute wave over us, acting as a sail on a boat. We all held a handle and worked as a team to wave the parachute really high and gently bringing it down. We watched the sail above our heads, emphasising we are UNDER the sails. We then pretended to be a mermaid, using a blue sparkly sheet as our mermaid tail. We pretended to be mermaid UNDER water as we watched a big piece of material wave over us like the water. Lastly, we met the sea creatures. Mrs Summerfield put our pretend toy sea creatures under a shell, lifting it up whilst using minimal language “the sea creatures are UNDER the shell.”
Our explorers practised recognising familiar propositions and staying engaged throughout the story.
Our adventurers practised labelling the propositions and, with adult support, putting the items in the correct proposition which was UNDER.
Well done Maple class!
