Welcome back!
7A have settled back into school life exceptionally well after the holidays.
On Monday, they got back into their swimming lessons at Hindley swimming pool.
In music, in the afternoon, Miss Troughton introduced us to a new song, ‘Three little birds’ by Bob Marley. Everyone had to bang along to the beat of the music. 7A used blocks and sticks and a drum and were all fantastic at keeping the beat. Once they had mastered this they moved onto jumping to a beat. Everybody really enjoyed this.
Tuesday was My Thinking and Problem solving. 7A continued on from last term by looking at tally charts and bar graphs. This week, in their groups, they had to separate tubes of smarties into the different colours. Once this was done they completed a tally chart of all the different colours. Some moved onto do a bar chart of the data collected.
In the afternoon a group went on their community visit to Asda, learning about money and budgeting our money when buying class snacks.
The other group completed some ICT work making posters on Book creator about rules of using the internet.
On Wednesday afternoon 7A had their PE lesson, pupils used different equipment this week to come up with a routine to show their peers.
On Thursday class Mrs Chaloner looked at this weeks Picture news, which was about a girls’ football team in York who has launched a campaign called, 'Girls can have short hair. Get Over It', hoping to challenge stereotypes in the sport. As a class they shared their thoughts on how it might have made them feel.
7A then looked at some young people who campaigned for change. They each chose two of them to write about who they were and what they challenged.
In the PHSE lesson, The World Around Me topic, 7A continued discussing recycling and rubbish. Everyone went out into the school grounds armed with litter pickers and binbags. They went in groups and collected any rubbish they came across- there seemed to be lots left from when the workmen were here. 7A showed great teamwork, working together to ensure everywhere was tidy and clean.
Well done 7A on a great first week!!!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
