On Monday morning, we began our maths exams. Everyone has worked so hard to prepare themselves for the tests. Well done 11A.  Because Sunday had been International Women’s Day, we also spent time talking about women’s experiences and how women are treated in the world. We went through a PowerPoint and had a discussion. Afterwards, we had some colouring and word searches. In the afternoon, Lee from the DWP joined us again for more team‑building activities. We were split into groups and each team were given 20 pieces of spaghetti and a piece of tape. Our task was to design and build the tallest tower and then balance a marshmallow on the top. Nobody’s tower stayed up!

On Tuesday morning we had our next maths test. Once we finished our tests, we were able to make a brew and have a chat with our friends. After this, we did picture news and we explored the question of how robots might change our daily lives. We talked about robots and modern technology, and we learned that China is investing heavily in designing advanced robots. We watched a video of humanoid robots dancing during China’s Lunar New Year Gala. After that, our task was to research different robots throughout history with a partner. We looked at examples such as the Steam Pigeon and Ameca. We worked in partners to research these robots and we fed back to the class. This afternoon we spoke about the difference between skills and qualities, we listed our skills under one table and qualities under one and then shared to the class.

On Wednesday morning, we went to work on Chorley in Bloom. This week, we visited a church near our school and helped in the gardens there. Some of us swept up, and some of us planted garlic. In the afternoon we had our KS4 options.

On Thursday morning, we went swimming. We all practised lengths of front crawl and backstroke, and we even jumped in at the deep end. After swimming, we returned to school and we had 11P join us and we found out the venue for our prom! We then made invitations for external staff that we have invited. This afternoon we went to Tesco to buy all the things we need for breakfast barms in the morning.

On Friday morning, we did our enterprise and made breakfast barms for the staff in school. In the afternoon, we had well-being time, where some of us watched a film, some of us had a nice chat with friends. This weeks star of the week is Gemma, for building her confidence in swimming! Well done Gem.
