Continuing our ‘Sail the Seven Seas’ topic, we sat and engaged with a ‘floating and sinking’ box session. During stage 1, we watched in anticipation the snapping shark! Our teachers said ‘snap, snap, snap’ as the shark got closer and some of us jumped! During stage 2, we listened to the talking parrot who copied our teachers voices. During stage 3, we watched Miss Seddon make clouds with shaving foam and rain with water and blue food colouring. She got a tub of water and put the clouds in the box. The clouds were ‘floating’ and sat on top of the water! When Miss added the blue rain… the rain was ‘sinking’ and went to the bottom of the tub! During stage 4, we each had a turn at adding coins to the little boats that were ‘floating’ on top of the water. When we added the coins, we found that the boats were too heavy and they sunk! Oh oh! We had lots of fun exploring ‘sinking’ and ‘floating’ in our interactive ‘somethings in the box’ session! Well done Chestnut Class!
