What a fantastic week we had a Calvert Trust.

On the first night we unpacked our suitcases, eat a delicious tea and chilled out in the swimming pool. We all settled really well at night after a story.

Day 1: Our Calvert adventure started with the challenging rope course. We made sure we were safe by putting on our harnesses and hard hats then we made our way to the course. Tyler was first to go and though initially apprehensive he developed his skills and supported his friend over some tricky obstacles, showing some fantastic leadership skills. Next to go was Harry who embraced the course and thrived on the support from his peers. Ty followed on and although initially very cautious he rose to the challenge with Mrs Linde's support. Reece followed Mrs Linde and thought it was very funny to aim the swinging obstacles at her attempting to knock her off the course. Clayton set off and had no trouble negotiating all obstacles with skill and expertise so much so that he tackled the challenging high course supported by Mrs Linde. Ambar was next to go and thoroughly enjoyed swinging across the obstacles. Mrs James also rose to the challenge and conquered her fears to successfully complete the course.

Well done everyone - you were all very brave!

In the afternoon we took on the Ghyll Scrambling challenge. After kiting up with waterproofs we entered the stream supported by our new friend Noah the dog. The course was challenging with slippy rocks and fast flowing water. Tyler, once again, showed some great leadership skills through supporting his peers over the obstacles. Clayton and Reece showed some fantastic independence skills and was confident in overcoming some challenging obstacles, including negotiating the tunnel. Ty, although initially apprehensive, found it lots of fun to follow Noah up the stream. Harry and Ambar were supported by Mrs James and Mrs Linde and both of them did a great job on the challenging course.

After such a busy day we decided to relax in the games room.

Day 2: In the morning we ventured up a mountain in the minibus and walked all the way back down. Jane set us a task to collect many different items that we found on our way. Noah accompanied us on the walk and we all enjoyed watching him do his tricks. On the way down we saw an Osprey's nest which was large enough to fit all of 7G in. Once back at Calvert we went on a treasure hunt, following clues independently.

In the afternoon we used our teamwork skills to canoe across the lake. We learnt how to hold the paddles correctly and tried really hard to paddle in unison to make the canoe go faster. Jane set the group a challenge to see if they could use their balance skills to stand up in the canoe. Mrs Linde was relieved that we all did a super job and no one fell overboard.

In the evening we went into the Sports Hall and participated in a number of activities including; gymnastics, balls and hoops. We all showed some wonderful interaction skills and played with our friends.

Day 3: Everyone was very excited for our final day of activities and the horse riding experience certainly didn't disappoint. We were assigned a horse each and were taught how to mount. We learnt how to make our horses walk, stop and turn and played games which needed us to have our horses listening to our aids. After we had ridden we learnt how to keep the horses looking smart and tidy. We used a variety of grooming tools and the horses looked super smart afterwards.

In the afternoon we took on our biggest challenge - the caves. We walked through the beautiful countryside and then were set with the challenge of climbing a steep mountain. All children worked together and supported each other. It was lovely to see how much we had grown as a group and the quality of interactions. Once at the top of the mountain we had a short rest, took a deep breath and followed Noah into the cave. It was very challenging to negotiate the small passage but luckily Noah the dog kept us on track and we were able to follow his glowing collar. Once we were deep in the cave Jane set us a challenge to turn our torches off which we all rose to.  On the way back down the mountain we were lucky enough to see a wild horse who was very friendly and wanted strokes off us all.

In the evening we had a super party to end what was a fantastic week.
