What a wonderful morning 7A has had checking out the Anderton Centre ready for our residential .
When getting off the bus we were met by Mark, our guide for the morning. We checked out the low ropes and the high ropes first. Mark pointed out the small climbing wall which we will go on first before completing the rope activities.
Then we had a lovely walk further along the path and saw the fire pit where we will be participating in bushcraft and hopefully roasting marshmallows with a sing song.
We then walked down further down the path and came to the huge reservoir where we were lucky enough to see another school and their pupils getting ready to do the open raft canoeing. 7A then looked at the other equipment that we will be using on the lake. We saw the single paddle boards and the new extra large paddle boards where up to 8 children can go on at once.
Mark then discussed the history of the Anderton centre and Lord Leverhulme. Lord Leverhulme was a very wealthy man who owned the land and who was responsible for the reservoir being made. He was also the first person to bring instant noodles over to England so 7A gave him the nickname “the Pot Noodle man”. Mark then discussed the castle on the hill in the distance and explained how this was built by Lord Leverhulme and named it Liverpool castle as this is where he was originally from.
7A then had a good look at where we will be sleeping which a lot of our children have been worried about. You can rest assured that their worries were resolved and they felt a bit better seeing them. All bedrooms have their own bathroom. Next to the bedrooms is a little social area where we can chill out in the evening.
We then looked at the dining area where we will be having our breakfast and evening meal, the children checked out the chairs to make sure that they will be comfy while eating.
Our bus journey home was a very happy one and we are very excited to go on residential!
