To celebrate the Commonwealth Games being hosted in this country, and the Queen’s Jubilee year, the school took part in the Lancashire School Games Baton Relay. Members of the school council, together with participating classes, provided a welcoming party for teachers and pupils from St Mary’s School.
After the baton had been passed on, the school council members then provided refreshments and the opportunity to talk to the pupils from St May’s about each others School values.
After the reception had finished five members of the school council left carrying the baton and travelled to St Laurence’s School, the next destination in the baton relay. They received a very warm welcome from the pupils and staff of St Laurence’s School, waving flags they had made and clapping us to a welcoming party on the school playground.
On behalf of Astley Park School the pupils then presented a commemorative blossom tree representing the school logo and statement, Nurturing Futures.
The pupils really enjoyed the experience and in representing Astley Park School, together with being ambassadors for the Lancashire School Games Baton relay.
A big well done to everyone.
