This half term, as we have continued our Our Planet theme, 8A have been reading stories from around the world in My Communication.
First, we read a story called Lila and the Secret of Rain. This story was set in Africa and we thought about what it would be like to live somewhere without rain, where plants were struggling to grow and water was in short supply. We enjoyed small world play to retell the story and practiced our writing skills when answering questions about the story.
Over the last few weeks, we have particularly enjoyed reading the story The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. This story is about deforestation in the rainforest. 8A have enjoyed talking about the animals that live in the rainforest and about the impact of deforestation. We really enjoyed retelling the story using our acting skills and some of us created some fantastic story boards to retell the story. Great work 8A!
Next week, we will be thinking about Ramadan and reading a story called Rameena’s Ramadan.
Take a look at Evidence for Learning to see some more of our fantastic work!
