This week at Astley Park School we have celebrated the Buddhist festival of Wesak.
In 10G we have been learning about Wesak and what the festival is about. We learnt that Wesak is the most important of the Buddhist festivals and during this time Buddhists collect food and donate it to charities and people that are in need. It is a very colourful and happy celebration where Buddhists hang lanterns around their home. In class we had a go at making our own lanterns, choosing different colours to use, and carefully cutting and sticking them together.
Each class in school decorated a Mandala. In 10G we used got very artistic and used colourful, watered down paint. We used straws to blow thepaint around our Mandala, making a splatter pattern. We all enjoyed getting creative (and a bit messy)!
