The staff and pupils had a fantastic time on the Anderton Centre residential and lots of wonderful memories were made.
On our arrival on the Tuesday we unpacked our cases , made our beds, and then we straight away got stuck into exciting activities which started off with the low ropes, the climbing wall and then, after tea, lots of fun team games before we all fell into our beds, exhausted but happy.
On Wednesday we joined in with water activities which included paddle boarding and canoeing. First of all we had to listen very carefully to the instructors as they talked to us about rules whilst on the water and how to stay safe.
We had lots of fun especially trying to pick coloured balls up out of the water just using our oars and we all managed to get wet but our wetsuits worked really well in keeping us warm.
On Wednesday evening after tea we had a small disco and played some games before having a hot drink and then bedtime. The instructors joined in with us and showed us some fab moves.
Thursday was extremely busy with us all having a go at archery, orienteering around the site which involved following maps , more fun water activities and then, after starting to pack our clothes, bushcraft which involved sitting around a campfire in the dark, toasting marshmallows and cooking popcorn. This was a brilliant evening, the instructors made sure we were all safe around the fire and then we played board games before bed.
We couldn’t believe Friday had arrived, the time had flown by so quickly and lots of relationships and friendships were made as we all learnt how to work as a team during all of the activities.
Our final activities were crate stacking and then finally some pupils and staff did the leap of faith…climbing up a high tree and then absailing down to the ground.
The coach arrived just after lunch and we all climbed aboard and waved goodbye to the instructors. We were all tired and yet very happy to have taken part in such a fabulous residential.
