10P have had a jam-packed week this week! We started off our Monday with weekend news and we talked all about what we had done over Saturday and Sunday. We then decided that we were going to look at learning some new signs, including potato, post-box and to learn. We then talked about what our hopes for the week were, with most learners hoping that they would have a good week.
In the afternoon we headed to ASDA to get our shopping for the week; we were making chocolate apples in food tech so we needed to get some apples and some sprinkles to decorate them with.
On Tuesday we learnt all about Guy Fawkes and bonfire night. We talked about who he was and why we set off fireworks. We then did an activity where we had to sort out the timeline for the events leading up to Guy Fawkes’ arrest and execution. We then did a Kahoot about all the information we had learned about bonfire night!
We had our food tech lesson on Tuesday where we made chocolate apples for Bonfire Night; some of us chose to use sprinkles to decorate and some of us chose to use crumbled up Lotus biscuits.
Wednesday was all about Remembrance! In the morning, we started off by doing some art work and creating sunset paintings before cutting out the silhouettes of soldiers to place in front. In the afternoon we had our English lesson where we all wrote an acrostic poem about the word ‘Remember’. Everyone did a brilliant job and then we used that work to create our fantastic display in the corridor.
On Thursday we had swimming in the morning, where everyone did a really good job practicing their front and back crawl! Everyone put a lot of effort in and were very ready for lunch when we got back to school. In the afternoon we moved onto our next ASDAN unit, ‘Making the Most of Leisure Time’, and for our first lesson we had a think about the activities and hobbies we do at the moment and then thought about some activities we might like to try in the future.
On Friday morning we continued with our Duke of Edinburgh skill, and we carried on practicing our cross stitch skills, with some of us picking it up really well! We also filmed a video for the Astley Park YouTube channel with all of the signs we have learnt for Remembrance day this year.

In the afternoon we had golden time and assembly; a big well done to our star of the week Amelia for some fantastic writing in English!
