Welcome to Summer term in 10P! We started our week off with our first work experience of the term at the Life Centre at Chorley hospital. We talked about what we would be doing over the next few weeks before we split into groups to think about all of the different jobs that you can do in a hospital or health care service. We then had a scavenger hunt where we had to use a map of the hospital to find envelopes in different departments e.g. the eye centre or the x-ray department, and then put them together to find our final clue.

In the afternoon we began to talk about our enterprise projects that were going to be starting soon. These enterprise projects are going to help us raise money for our year 11 prom next year and so we are doing lots of planning to decide hat we want to do.

On Wednesday morning we had maths where we continued to work on our addition and subtraction skills, using concrete apparatus to support us and all of the learners are making great progress! Oscar went for his work experience at Chorley in Bloom with Mrs Cobham where he got to help out in the garden and he did lots of hard work!

In the afternoon Tig and Luca went out to their work experience with Brothers of Charity where they looked at some different technology and got to have a go at some video games. Those of us who stayed at school did some English work where we looked at stories and how to sequence them so that they make sense.

On Thursday morning we had some visitors from the NHS to talk to us about our annual health checks. We all had a go at getting our blood pressure taken and we all got our heights checked. We talked about how important it is to go for our health checks to make sure everything’s okay.

In the afternoon we headed to Sir Tom Finney school in Preston for a careers fair. We got a chance to go around and talk to lots of different people, including colleges, employers and social groups. Everyone had a good afternoon and enjoyed all their free pens!

In the morning on Friday we did some English interventions where we worked on our alphabet skills and after break we had a class discussion on bullying. We were looking at cyber bullying and how we need to keep ourselves safe because bullying can happen anywhere now that we all have mobiles and access to lots of technology nowadays.

We had golden time in the afternoon before assembly where this week our star of the week was Luca for being very respectful when out on our visits this week!

We hope everyone has a lovely, safe weekend!
