What a busy 4 day week 10A have had!
On Tuesday morning we went back to Chorley life centre, this week we looked at the catering side of the hospital. The lady who was in charge of catering, was called Shelly. Shelly took us to her office and gave us all a hair net and jacket to wear, whilst looking around the kitchen. Shelly explained why it was important to wear them. Shelly showed us the fridge, the freezer, the kitchen and then the canteen. Once we had finished our tour, we went back and did some word searches and completed our own menus! On Tuesday afternoon we continued with our enterprise work. We have been making bag charms, painting rocks and making flowers!
On Wednesday morning we continued with our swimming at Hindley baths. Everyone worked very hard, practicing back stroke, freestyle and breaststroke legs. Well done everyone! Whilst the rest of the class was swimming, Gemma attended a school council meeting, there was a special guest who visited, to ask us about how equality is shown throughout the
In the afternoon we had Forrest school. This week we had a big piece of paper and we stuck our initial on the paper, with double sided sticky tape. Then, we went down into the dip to find different things, like leaves, sticks, and other nature items to decorate our initial!
On Thursday morning we went to Chorley in bloom. This week was a bit different, it was VE Day, we learnt about what VE is, and celebrated 80 years since world war 2 ended. A gentleman spoke to us about his time in the military and he showed us his medals. Then, the Mayor spoke to us all. We all waved Union Jacks together. In the afternoon we did food tech and we were all given a recipe which we all read and followed. We baked a British classic, just for VE Day, a Victoria sponge cake! This was delicious. Then Miss Bentham went throw a PowerPoint telling us all about VE Day, we learnt that the V and the E stands for Victory in Europe. We had a group discussion about how people would have felt when the war ended.
On Friday, we continued with our work experience, some of us helped support the primary classes, whilst the rest of us went down into the Forrest school area and helped tidy the area, the boys worked really well together, showing some great teamwork! After this, we went back to class and continued with our creative writing. We used the planning that we did the other week, to help start writing our stories. We looked at different sentence openers we could use. In the afternoon we had golden time and then it was celebration assembly, it was great to see Olivia had joined this weeks celebration assembly, so we all got to give Olivia a wave! This weeks star of the week is Ollie - for dealing with an upsetting situation maturely. Well done Ollie!
