Welcome to the new 10A
It was great seeing all the learners coming into school in their new uniforms. They looked so grown up. Miss Hendy has worked so hard over the holidays and made the classroom look amazing and looking like a Key Stage 4 class.
We now have a hot and cold drinks station, a toaster and a fridge to put the milk and butter in. We now have a chill out area where the learners can chill and have nice chats with their peers.
This week the learners have been learning their new routine with Miss Hendy and the team. They have to follow this daily from a powerpoint. Staff are helping with this at the moment, but eventually, the learners will be following this routine independently.
To break the ice with the learners, the class played a game. The learners stuck 10 post it notes on themselves and when Miss Hendy played some jumpy music the learners had to dance to make the post it notes fall off. Even the staff joined in.
We think there might have been a bit of hand brushing whilst dancing to make them fall off as nearly all the learners notes had fallen off, and staff still had quite a few on!
For another ice breaker, 10A were asked different questions about favourite things like days of the week, food, movies and something they are good at. There was also a question on what makes them angry. There were some great answers like, spiders, alarm clocks, siblings, being misunderstood just to name a few.
10A even had a go at making themselves a cup of tea or coffee. Some of the learners have never made one before. Again, we will be working towards them making these independently.
We have had a brilliant first week. We are all looking forward to the next couple of weeks !
