What a great second we have had in 9P! We are so proud of all of our learners as they continue to follow their new class routine so well.

This week as our learners have arrived at school they have enjoyed engaging in a range of nurture activities from completing jigsaws, getting creative with playdough using our weather and Autumn theme playdough mats, completing a seasonal colour by number, a dot-to-dot to create a pumpkin, which they then coloured in, an autumn i-spy where are learners have to look for images of autumn on a sheet, count the different items and record their finds in a table and finally a letter and number formation sheet.

Monday is when we love to share our Weekend news and our learners really look forward seeing and hearing about what their friends and staff members have enjoyed doing over the weekend as well as talking through and showing their own photographs explaining to their friends all the different experiences they have had over the weekend.

In phonics this week our learners have been using their phonics knowledge to help them complete activities within the ‘Inital Code’ app. This ranges from identifying the letters and the sounds they make to breaking words down into the individual letter sounds and then putting those sounds back together again to say the word. Our learners also have the opportunity to trace over letters and practising how to write individual letters and then words and read sentences.

In maths our learners have enjoyed applying their mathematical knowledge to help them to find the missing number when counting in 1’s 2’s and 5’s both forwards and backwards and have enjoyed working out addition sums where the answer was 10 or below using the TopMarks online game hit the button.

At lunchtime all of our learners are continuing to make us so proud as they eat together in the hall. When our learners return to the classroom having eaten together in the hall we start our afternoon with a playdough gym session to help start our afternoon off calmly and develop our fine motor skills.

On Monday afternoon our learners went on a walk around our school grounds to collect lots of different types of leaves. Once back into the classroom they enjoyed creating a leaf person.

As part of our Whatever the Weather theme on Tuesday 9P thought carefully about the clothes our Teddy would need to wear if it was raining.

And in P.E our learners explored balance and agility using the P.E equipment.

On Wednesday as part of our ICT learning 9P used their knowledge of online safety to answer questions to help Ben, the boy in our story ‘Buddy the Dog’s Internet Safety Story’ stay safe when online. We talked about the importance of not talking to strangers on or offline and to always ask a trusted adult (their parents/carers/teachers) for help.

During our textile learning with Miss Troughton our learners continued to explore different texture and used their fine motor skills to complete a range of different threading activities.

On Thursday we looked at our new sensory story called ‘Serena’s Season’s’ and explored the ‘snow’ and smelt some beautiful flowers. After our story we had a go at writing all about what we had heard in the story. Everyone tried really hard with their writing, well done.

In the afternoon some members of 9P created a book all about themselves using ‘Book Creator’ on their i-pads, whilst others begun to create a weather book.

On Friday afternoon everyone enjoyed some well deserved Golden Time, where our learners enjoyed engaging in a range of free-play activities from 15 minutes of screen time where they can choose from a collection of pre selected games on their i-pad, toys cars on our car mat to construction toys. After Golden time all of Secondary joined together in the hall to celebrate another fantastic week at school. Mr Welsh handed out Star of the Week certificates and we sang Happy Birthday to those who have celebrated a birthday this week.

All of our learners have been amazing this week, but this week’s Star of the Week goes to Holly.

Well done Holly and well done everyone, stay safe and have a great weekend.
