Mental health…. It’s something we all have, sometimes it’s good and sometimes not so good.
In class we are very good at talking about our Mental Health and trying to address any concerns we might be having.
Unfortunately, the situation we are in at the moment has stopped all that.
So, at the start of lock down, I made myself a special jar. Having things to look forward to can make me feel happier and improve my wellbeing. Each time I think of something I would like to do in the future, or that makes me happy, I write it on a piece of paper and place it inside my decorated jar.
When the jar is full, or when I’m feeling fed up. I open up the jar and read through the things I have written that are inside the jar. It makes me feel better.
Here are some simple instructions for you to make your own happy jar.
Please have a go and email me with pictures of your ‘Happy Jar.’
Use these craft instructions to create your own well being happy jar. Each time you think of something you would like to do in the future, write it on a piece of paper and place it inside your decorated jar.
You will need:
• glass jar, plastic jar, yogurt pot with lid
• scissors
• paintbrush
• white glue
• sticky label, stickers, strip of paper, pictures.
• pencil
• paper to record the things you are looking forward to
Instructions
Cut shapes out of the colourful paper or tissue paper.
Use the paintbrush to put some glue onto the jar.
Stick paper shapes carefully on to your jar.
Write a label for your jar.
You could write ‘Things that make me happy’ or ‘Things I am looking forward to’.
You can use white glue/ PVA to paint over the top of the shapes on your jar and the label. This will give it a nice, shiny effect.
Once dry, your jar is ready to use. Write things that you are looking forward to / make you happy on pieces of paper and place them into your decorated jar.
This is my jar ……do you like it?
