We have been celebrating World Religion week this week in Sycamore with our chosen religion being 'Hinduism' focusing our learning on the
'Holi Festival'.
Sycamore class enjoyed a Teams call on Monday in which we did the story of 'The Festival Of Colours' talking about the story and remembering that the children in the book collected different coloured flowers to create the powders to throw at each other. The children were really good at answering questions all about the Holi Festival with lots of discussion around forgiveness- how it builds friendships and how it celebrates fresh starts.
Sian and William did some beautiful painting in the body outlines representing the 'throwing ' of the coloured powders using lots of the bright colours used in the festival. They also joined in with Astley Parks Bollywood dancing video showing us their moves and we thoroughly enjoyed watching all the participants of Astley Park school showing us their Bollywood moves too.....great job everyone!!
All our learners from home have been doing some fabulous World Religion work too with fantastic pictures, fact files, dancing and baking so well done everyone we are so proud of you all!
We have also been completing the Six Star Challenge activities too at home and within school.
BH did a fabulous picture of the Taj Mahal and some super fact finding as part of his investigation task, and also helped to feed his dog Rocky and set the table for his family for lunch as part of his 'How can I help?' challenge. This is in addition to taking part in the Bollywood dancing and learning some tricky moves, and completing his home learning activities where he is producing some fantastic work. A big well done BH keep it up!
Tig has also been very keen to do his work at home and is completing it independently and to a high standard, so well done Tig you are a super star! We can see you have been doing super pencil work and addition sheets where if you got the answer wrong you have persevered and corrected yourself building great resilience and constantly learning how to better yourself, this is amazing!
Aidan has done some super maths challenges on the Education City game so well done Aidan!.
As part of world religion week we are also learning about how Hindu’s make sweets deserts so to follow on from this theme Aidan worked with William and Sian in class to make chocolate rice Krispy cakes which were delicious!
You are all doing amazing so keep it up everyone!
