Maple class have set sail into summer with a big splash and a new class theme - Sail the Seven Seas! Our little shipmates have had a great time navigating the classroom provision which has included a small world pirate ship, walking the plank, a sensory treasure chest, pop-up pirate and lots and lots of water play!
The children have had lots of opportunities to develop their language and social communication this week through learning new pirate vocabulary and signs, making requests for different coloured swords and turn-taking during pop-up pirate.
Everyone had great fun walking the plank into a shark infested pool whilst working on participating in whole class activities, co-operating with others and balance. Some children were super brave and it was great to see them trying out new sensory experiences.
Our Adventurers are learning how to make their own drinks and have already shown that they love to do things for themselves. The children did an amazing job of working together and following instructions to make a Pirate Mud Shake. They practiced adding, pouring, opening and stirring - very important skills for independence.
We also want to say a huge welcome back to Miss Hothersall who has returned from her maternity leave - a wonderful addition to the class team.
What a super first week back to school!
