What a lovely sunny week it has been for 11G this week and we have made the most of the dry sunny weather by spending lots of time outside enjoying the fresh air.
We have watered our plants that are growing in the poly tunnel every single day and in return we have harvested lots of lovely big broad beans and seen some very pretty flowers growing. To water the plants we take turns filling buckets full of water in the classroom and then , using the wheelbarrow, we take them down to the poly tunnel and transfer the water from the buckets into watering cans. This activity can take quite a long time but we are in a routine now and each day we get quicker at filling the buckets and transporting them and it really is wonderful to see the plants growing so well
We have played a few very energetic games of rounders on the school field and also a rather crazy game called duck, duck, goose where the pupils run around in a circle trying to catch the ‘goose’. I was exhausted just watching the game and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
On a more relaxing note we have spent a few times simply sitting on the field, reading stories and just chatting to each other and having a good time in each other’s company.
Inside the classroom we have been carrying on learning about 2D and 3D shapes and how to sort them into various categories as well as spending time using our literacy books to brush up on reading and spelling.
Georgia enjoyed Visiting West Lancs college again and she cooked her own Mexican lunch with very little support. Well done Georgia.
Jessie and James also visited West Lancs again and took part in a lovely activity cutting and pressing flowers whilst Eleanor once again visited My life where she held rabbits and helped to muck out stables.
Today we celebrated Italian day with a story about an Italian girl who visited the leaning tower of Pisa and then, after discussing the types of food to be found in Italy, we used lots of ingredients to create and eat our very own flatbread pizzas.
We used mozzarella cheese, salami and peppers to make the pizzas and also sprinkled herbs on top to give them an authentic taste. Yum they were really nice and we all enjoyed eating them.
In the afternoon we were treated to ice cream cornets or gelato to as it’s known in Italy.
Celebration assembly brought all the classes together online as usual and Jessie got star of the week in 11G for having a fab visit to her new college and making new friends.
Have a great weekend everyone. Ms Lea. Xxx
