Today we looked at Remembrance Day. We listened to Mrs Cobham read her Uncle Bert’s memories of being a soldier in WWII and listened to his thoughts and feelings about war. Mrs Cobham shared some photos of Uncle Bert’s time as a soldier and some photos of her family.
We listened to a beautiful poem about a boy who went to war and never returned home. We thought about how we would feel if we were a young soldier sent to war - some of the feelings we thought we would be are frightened, scared, homesick and sad.
After this we made a felt poppy. Using a pencil to draw a poppy head on red felt, cutting it out. Making a black felt circle, threading a needle and sewing the black onto the red. We tied a green pipe cleaner onto the back of the poppy.
Well done 10R
