Another touch and go start… lots of obstacles in the way… BUT we made it! After a term of trying to get out and about on the bus, we were determined today to make sure it happened, and we got there!
Starting the day we looked at the bus timetable, we then discussed risks and how to keep ourselves safe during our trip and then walked up to the bus stop where we waited patiently for the 109. We learnt about how to stop the bus and use our NOW cards to get our ticket. The bus driver commented on how lovely our group was and we set off on our short journey to Tesco. We then learnt when a good time to press the stop button is. After we got off the bus we took a short walk across the road to Tesco.
Pupils enjoyed shopping for the class snacks and long list of shopping (Please can parents’ keep our lists to a maximum of two items in future weeks). we practised using our debit cards and cash before heading back to school via the bus again.
Pupils have been shown the way this week and have been challenged to lead the way in our future visits. As we have done our first visit we have learnt that we need to aim for the earlier bus to accommodate a trip to the coffee shop too.
On our return journey we waited at the stop and put our arm out at the right time to signal stopping the bus. We got on the bus and Robyn used the correct method to inform the driver when we were ready to get off.
By the time we were back at school we were certainly ready for our lunch!
We are looking forward to going out again next week.
