9G have worked really hard this week.

Monday morning 9G shared what they had done over the weekend. There was telly watching, visiting family, eating lots of pizza, walks and shopping. They then put what they did in good sentence structure with great drawings.

After that 9G continued looking at their class theme, Safari.

We heard all about Gerald the Giraffe in the book Giraffe Cant Dance. The class participated in playing part of the animals in the book. There was lots of dancing being done.

In our thinking and problem solving, some of the learners had small safari animals which had numbers from 1 to 10. They had to use their fine motor skills to cut out the animals and sequence the pictures in the correct number order.

Wow, what a brilliant job they did.

The others, again used their fine motor skills, cutting out circles. They then had to stick the circles to complete the safari scene.

Again, what a great job they did. You couldn’t tell there had been missing places by how well they cut out and stuck the circles in the correct places.

The class has also been listening to the story Ronald the Rhino. Ronald didn’t like being him, he wanted to be a different animal and tried different techniques. He put mud on himself to become a leopard and crawled on the floor to look like a snake.

9G listened well to a couple of pages, then completed different activities. A small group carefully followed different shaped lines across by using a pencil. Others picked a describing word about how an animal in the book looked  and then put it into a small sentence. Then another group read a small passage and answered a few question about what they had read.

Brilliant participation 9G shown. Staff were very pleased with their efforts and commitment to finish their work off. We will finish off the book next week.

Finally 9G looked at what fruit some safari animals ate. We then discussed if we liked these fruit ourselves. There was mixed reviews on fruit eating.

Everyone planned what fruit they would use to make a fruit kebab. Some found this a little tricky as they didn’t like fruit. The class then used their plans to create their own real fruit kebab ready for Friday afternoon snack time. The class had the choice from orange, banana, strawberries, kiwi and blueberries.

They loved making their very own healthy fruit kebab snack.
