Here we are again, another week been and gone!
We’ve had another good week in 10G, easing everyone back into school life and getting used to our new routines.
As part of our morning routine we have started running a 10G café. This is a time that takes place every morning where all pupils are involved and can all practice their independence skills. We all have a job to do to keep the café running smoothly and our jobs change every Monday, so we get to practice the same job for a full week. Some of our jobs include: taking the orders, making the toast, getting out the plates, giving out the cups, making the juice, spreading the butter, giving out the orders, washing up and drying. 10G staff are very impressed with how quickly all learners are adapting to their new routines and are (with lots of encouragement) carrying out their jobs.
Some of the activities that we have taken part in this week are:
- Making a Playdoh Gym in memory of the Queen
- Continuing making our own songs on Garageband on the iPad
- Drawing and then painting a self-portrait for our display in class
- Baking cookies or Mars Bars rice crispy squares for the Macmillan Coffee Morning
- Enjoying some exercise either on the bikes on the track or football training in the cage
- Map reading and working as part of a team to complete our treasure hunt around school
- Creating some work to make a booklet to send to Buckingham Palace
Thank you to everyone who came to Macmillan Coffee Morning today, it was really nice to see you all. We hope some of you managed to sample the baked goodies that 10G made before they sold out!
A big congratulations to 10G’s Star of the Week: Harry! He was awarded Star of the Week for having a fantastic week in class. Harry has found some new demands to be challenging this week but, with encouragement, has taken on new challenges. Harry was in the yellow zone one afternoon this week so sat with Mrs Cobham outside of class where she taught him about finger breathing, Harry said it helped to bring him back to the green zone. On Thursday, Harry stood up in front of the whole class to demonstrate the finger breathing to his peers (ask your child if they remember what it is!), we were all really proud of him! Well done Harry.
Thank you again to those who have kindly contributed to snack/cooking money, it is very much appreciated. Please see email from last week regarding this if you would like to contribute.
We have had two wonderful weeks of settling back into school life, as of next week we will be starting some more formalised work activities and Mrs Fisher will be setting new PLG’s shortly. These will be shared with you all at Parent’s Evening at the end of September.
PE begins next Wednesday, for the Autumn term we will be walking to Chorley All Seasons Leisure Centre to use their sports hall. Please could all pupils please come into school wearing PE kit for now. This may change as the year progresses. Look out for an email regarding this asking for your permission for your child to walk there and back every week.
Have a wonderful long weekend, we will see learners on Tuesday!
