A rainbow of colour descended on Astley Park today as we celebrated Autism Awareness day.  Learners across school took part in lots of wonderful activities to create autism awareness. Our explorers took part in Attention Autism sessions where rainbows and colours were the main theme.  Adventurers and Voyagers discussed what Autism is and how no-one with Autism is the same.  We also created colourful jigsaw pieces to make class puzzle posters to show that we are all different but fit together. 10R discussed what autism means to them and they created a fantastic mindmap.  9A learnt about World Autism Acceptance Day by writing our own acrostic poems about Autism. One of these included: Amazing, Unique, Talented, Interesting, Supported, Motivated. Oak class pupils used a communication board to select coloured dabbers to decorate individual jigsaw pieces. We then put all the pieces together as we all fit together in Oak Class!

Finally we all completed our sponsored walk around the track. Everyone had fun... Sian in 7P does not find walking that easy but she did brilliantly, completing 3 laps of the track; we are all so proud of her.  The money raised came to £107 and will be sent to the National Autism Society.
