This morning in Sycamore Class we have discussed and put into practice ‘Sparkler Safety’
Our rules to follow to stay safe:
- Wear gloves
- Keep lit sparklers at arms length
- Don’t put the sparkler on the floor
- Keep 2 metres away from other people
- An adult needs to light the sparklers
- When our sparkler has finished put it in a bucket of water
- Put the handle of our sparkler in a carrot to make it more sturdy
- If you need help, ask an adult
- If there is an emergency, shout for help
Our learners worked hard to follow these rules and have lots of fun. We discussed why sparklers are dangerous and the learners said ‘they are hot’ ‘they might burn us and others’ ‘you need fire to make them sparkle’ our learners also discussed that if we don’t follow our safety rules, it might cause a bigger fire and then we would need to phone the emergency services to help us, they were able to identify the correct emergency number and correct emergency department to ask for.
Things we needed
- Gloves
- Coats
- Bucket of water
- Carrots
- Something to light our sparklers with
- Sparklers
- Instructions
- Safety rules
- Mobile phone in case of an emergency
Our learners were all sensible and extremely safe and did well to follow instructions and make sure our friends were safe as well as ourselves.
Well done Sycamore Class ⭐️⭐️
