Before we can go and take part in our expedition at Bendrigg, we've had to complete some training for our Duke of Edinburgh award.

Our first visitor in the morning was Mrs Fisher, who talked about personal hygiene and we discussed some of the things that we would need to take with us on our walk; we said that we'd need to take water with us and not fizzy pop, we should take hand sanitiser and wipes to help us stay clean and spare socks in case we get wet.

We then had Mrs Jones come in to go over some basic first aid with us. She showed us how to put a bandage on and we talked about who to go to for help if we've hurt ourselves in the country side. We talked about what to do if we trip up and graze ourselves and that we should take some plasters and wipes with us.

After this Mrs Bentham came in to go over the country code with and discussed that it's important to follow the rules when we're out on our expedition because what we do can affect the people and animals that live there e.g. if we drop litter, it could make an animal sick.

In the afternoon, Mrs Price took us for navigation and teamwork. We went out onto the playground and, using compasses, we navigated our way around the playground, working in small groups to practice what we will be doing when we go on our walk.
