Three classes from the KS3 phase attended Blackpool zoo today. On the journey to Blackpool, it was very foggy. Once we arrived the fog cleared and the sun began to shine. The weather turned out beautiful and was lovely and warm!

Upon arrival, our dinners were dropped to our lunch area and then all classes went their separate ways to explore different areas of the zoo. All classes joined back up to have lunch together.

All classes attended the Sea Lion show together. The sea lions were so fascinating to watch. They cleaned rubbish from their enclosure and put it all in the bin, they gave us all a wave, clapped their fins together and used their fin to pretend that they were a shark. Once the show had come to an end, they continued having a swim and playing, which we were able to watch. Some of the learners were able to ask the keeper questions all about the sea lions too.

7P’s favourite area were the primates. Seeing the gorillas, little monkeys and Orangutans. In the Orangutan enclosure, there was a baby Orangutan, which the mummy even brought to the glass to show some of the learners.

8P’s favourite area were the big cats. Looking at the 3 lions pacing back and forth waiting for their lunch. And watching the 2 tigers go in and out of their enclosure, also waiting for their lunch. The tigers got cheeky pawing at the door as they could smell their lunch being prepared.

9P’s favourite area were the giraffes. Finding and reading all of the facts that surrounded the enclosure and being able to watch the giraffes eat from all of the branches with their really long blue tongues.

What an amazing visit we all had. The children behaved amazingly and showed off all of our school values. The staff could not be more proud of the children and the way they showed off how amazing Astley park really is.

The bus seemed much quieter on the trip home, than it did on the way to the zoo, with lots of tired faces (Including the staff)!! I think everyone will sleep well tonight, after such a busy and exciting day.
