Welcome back to Autumn 2 - the busy run up to Christmas!

We started the week by looking at the ASDAN work that we have produced over the last 12 months, to remind ourselves of the fantastic work we have done. It was really nice to see all the learners feeling proud of the work they have completed towards their portfolio!

On Tuesday we did Picture News. The topic this week was about bonfire night and had us thinking about the animals and people who are negatively affected by the celebrations. We thought about other ways we could celebrate bonfire night, including using quieter fireworks and even drone displays. It definitely got us thinking about others in our community and what we can do to help them. In maths this term we have learners working on addition and subtraction, with others working on comparing fractions, decimals and percentages! In the afternoon, we started the skill section of our Duke of Edinburgh award. We will be learning how to sew and will hopefully be working towards a final project of a Christmas card for our families.

In English on Wednesday morning, we looked at word classes and created some great sentences, using the different word types. In maths, we continued with our new units. In the afternoon, we had our first options lessons. It was really great to see the choices that our learners had made for their options, as we have someone from 11A in every option group. Keep an eye out for blogs all about what we get up to in our options!

On Thursday morning, we went shopping for our Breakfast butties Enterprise. We used great communication skills to help each other navigate the supermarket and we used budgeting to find the items with the best value for money! Great work all round! In the afternoon we went to the gym at All Seasons. This was something we really enjoyed last year and it was great to get back in there again. All the learners remembered how to use the equipment and how to keep themselves safe whilst using it!

Friday morning we were back making breakfast butties, for our Enterprise. It really has become a smooth process now, with all learners being able to work at any of the stations to get the breakfast butties made! It's a great team effort, and I can speak personally about how delicious they are!
In the afternoon we enjoyed a film and some communication games during golden time and then joined the rest of the secondary classes in the hall for celebration assembly.

**Star of Week** this week is Ben, for fantastic effort with your sewing for your Duke of Edinburgh award and for putting in 100% effort at the gym. Well done Ben!
