Day 1 at Bendrigg.

We made it. The coach had some very excitable learners on this morning. We arrived to a very sunny but cold Bendrigg and was greeted by Jenny who will be our course leader for the week.

The first job everyone had to do was to find their rooms and make their own beds! They all had a good go putting the bottom sheet on and the duvet and pillow cases.

After we all made the beds, it was dinner time. There were jacket potatoes with either cheese, beans or tuna and a selection of sandwiches.

Our first activity after dinner was inside caving. We all had to get fitted with a helmet with a light on. The caving was so much fun. There were slides , tunnels, low and high ceilings. After they explored and got their bearings, there were certain things they had to find, like doors and gold bars. 10A worked so well as a team, looking for the gold bars. We then played hide and seek. They were all very brave, exploring in the dark, and the low ceiling.

After a short break, it was time for the snake slide. At the beginning a few of the learners were a little unsure of this slide as it was very long, but they had a go and wow, they really enjoyed it and had quite a few goes.

After tea, we chilled for a while before meeting up with Jenny who helped us plan out a  walking and canoeing routine. We had to come up with ideas of what things we needed. The learners came up with compass, walking boots, gloves, hat, a warm coat, jumper and a map. Jenny then showed us a pre packed ruck sack. It had all the items that they had already named. We then looked a very large dry bag. This was Bendrigg safety bag. This bag had extra gloves and hats, a first aid kit, spare clothes, and an emergency shelter.

To finish off our first day we went to the sports hall and the sensory room.
