In 10A this week we learned all about who St Andrew is and why St Andrew’s day is celebrated.

We enjoyed learning lots of new facts about St Andrew, including why the Scottish flag now has a cross on it! The children were able to remember these facts and write them down. We also learnt how St Andrew’s day is celebrated, learning all about the traditional kilts and tartan patterns Scottish people wear and the traditional Scottish dance performed on St Andrew’s day.

We ended the day by playing a Scottish song, of course it was the Proclaimers, 500 miles, which they really enjoyed. We also extended the tartan pattern on to a kilt and designed our own window thistle
