This week we have been super busy in Rowan class. On Monday morning we have done Attention Autism about numbers, counting how many footprints we could find in the jungle leaves. Then in the afternoon we have been making monkey faces. On Tuesday, in the morning we have done PE, we have been exploring movement like different animals do, then we have been doing our zoo themed sensology where we have been using our senses to explore different zoo themed activities which included smelling bird food, listening to the monkey sounds and touching the fur of the giraffe soft toy. On Tuesday afternoon, we have learning about the winter weather and used the umbrella to protect us from the ‘rain’ in class before making rain cloud pictures at the table. On Wednesday we have been learning about going to the zoo in our Dear Zoo sensory story, where we pretended to be the zoo animals and listened to their sounds. In the afternoon, we did a ‘5 speckled frog’ themed Attention Autism where we sang the song and had a turn making the frogs jump into the pond, before making our very own frog faces. On Thursday, we did a zoo themed Attention Autism where we learnt about tall giraffes and their long necks, making tall towers to represent a giraffe’s long neck. Then at the table we made our own giraffes with long necks. On Thursday afternoon we had a relaxing time in the sensory room. On Friday morning we have been exploring our senses again, this time during a winter themed sensology lesson where we smelt pine trees, tasted hot chocolate and felt the cold ice cubes. Then this afternoon we have been exploring musical instruments during a musical sensory lesson. We have also done lots of regulation throughout the week with track walks, sensory room and sensory integration room sessions and phonics lessons. What a super fun and busy week in Rowan Class!!
