KS4
In Key Stage 4, our priority is to prepare learners for their next steps in life whatever those may be. Our three pathways Making Choices, Communicating and Connecting, Learning for Life and Aiming for Independence help to tailor learner experiences to gain the most out of each young person.
Functional skills are explicitly developed and put to use in real life situations ensuring that all learning has a clear purpose and use for the future. Learners can apply what they have learned to gain accreditation in English, Maths, ICT and more.
We aim to promote independence through all that we do from making our own choices and personal care to independent travel to give our learners autonomy and the best quality of life after Astley Park.
Our curriculum is flexible and fully informed by the learner, their strengths, needs and aspirations for the future with Personalised Learning Goals at the centre of their learning. Learners choose what they want to study influenced by their interests or strengths.
Learners have plenty of opportunities to get out and about within the local community developing a sense of belonging and learning vital life skills. They learn how to access local services, purchase essential items and use public transport.
