It was our first Cooking and Nutrition session of Spring 2 and we couldn't miss the chance to make pancakes after it was Shrove Tuesday this week!

It was Group 1's turn to cook this week- we are all getting much better at remembering how to set up when we get into the Food Tech room. We wash our hands, but on our aprons and read through our recipes to see what ingredients we need and which equipment we need to collect.

Once we were ready- it was time to begin. We weighed out the ingredients that we needed using digital scales, then combined everything together to make the pancake batter. We took it in turns to whisk the mixture until it was nice and smooth.

With help from Mrs England and MIss Aindow, we took it in turns to pour the batter into a hot frying pan then watched as the pancakes began to set.

Then it was time for the fun bit- flipping! Those of us who wanted to had a turn at flipping their pancake and I am very pleased to inform you that no pancakes ended up on the ceiling or floor- phew!

We took the many pancakes back to class for the best part- eating them for snack. Everyone chose their own toppings and we had lots of different combinations going on. Thumbs up from nearly everyone.

It will be Group 2's turn to cook next week- pizzas are on the menu.
