There are not many pupils left in 8G at the moment so we decided to scrap the groups and instead, all bake together for a change. We also got to work with Mrs Carney and Miss Robinson too this afternoon which has been lovely as well. Butterfly buns were on the agenda today.
As always, we made sure we washed our hands thoroughly before we started anything and put our aprons on.
I can tell that we have all been practicing using the labels that are on the cupboards to help when we are collecting equipment as everybody managed to work together to find all of the equipment that was listed on our recipe- super work, everyone!
We started by weighing out all of the ingredients carefully in a mixing bowl, then took it in turns to mix them all together with a whisk. This was hard work and we all had to use our arm muscles to make sure everything was mixed together properly.
Then we divided the mixture into the cake cases and Mrs Carney and Mrs Fisher carefully but the buns in the oven to cook.
While they were cooking, we made the buttercream topping. Again, this required lots of muscle power but we all worked together to make sure the buttercream was well mixed.
We had a quick fresh air break using the circuit equipment outside the food tech room whilst the buns cooled. Then we all came back in (washing our hands first of course) and finished off our butterfly buns with buttercream, jam and sprinkles.
Thumbs up from everyone, they tasted delicious! Hope they arrived home in one piece and you have all enjoyed sampling them tonight.
Big thank you to Mrs Carney and Miss Robinson for all their help!
Mrs Fisher
