Even though the sun has disappeared we have had a lovely, fun week in Oak Club.
We started most mornings by listening to the sensory story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We counted out all the food that he ate and even guessed that he would change into a beautiful butterfly! We talked about the days of the week and what day would come next, talked about which foods were healthy and unhealthy and tried to remember how many of each fruit were in the story.
Some of us then tried the different fruits and some of us just had a look at them and gave them a little sniff. We used some super describing words and gave them a thumbs up or thumbs down!
Throughout the week we have carried on with our caterpillar theme. One activity that we did was using the fruits dipped in paint to print our own pictures which was lots of fun. We noticed that some fruits left better prints than others.
Another activity we enjoyed was making beautiful, colourful butterfly paintings. We did this by decorating one half with paint and then folding the paper over and pressing down on it. When we opened the paper back up we were amazed to see a fantastic symmetrical butterfly!
As it has been MADD week we have made sure we have also done lots of dancing in class. We particularly enjoyed dancing to ‘The Wiggles’ songs. After our dancing we made sure we made our engines just right with relaxation time on the beanbags.
Friday was Pyjamarama day so some of us came in our PJ’s – even the teachers! We listened to Miss Carter reading the sensory story ‘Peace at Last’ and then after lunch Mrs Taylor read ‘Dear Zoo’. It was very scary when the creepy crawly spider came out!!!
We have had lots of fun this week and it has been lovely to spend some time together.
Stay safe J
